EU Battery Regulations and Requirements for Recycled Content
As the global new energy industry enters a phase of rapid development, the recycling of end-of-life lithium-ion batteries is gradually shifting from an ‘environmental industry’ to a ‘strategic resource industry’. In this round of industrial upgrading, Black Mass is emerging as one of the most closely watched core resources in the global battery supply chain.

Black Mass is a black powdery material obtained from used lithium-ion batteries following discharge, disassembly, crushing and screening.
It contains significant quantities of high-value metals:
Lithium (Li)
Nickel (Ni)
Cobalt (Co)
Manganese (Mn)
Graphite
In the past, Black Mass was largely regarded as an “intermediate product” in the recycling process.
Today, however, it is emerging as an “urban mine” within the new energy industry chain.
