Lithium-ion battery recycling equipment to be shipped to India: What delivery terms need to be confirmed for a one-metric-tonne-per-hour project?

Recently, a set of lithium-ion battery recycling equipment with a processing capacity of one metric tonne per hour was shipped to India.

This project links the manufacture of the equipment with the recycling requirements at the Indian client’s site. Following dispatch of the equipment, the project will progressively move into the stages of arrival inspection, on-site installation, system integration, individual unit commissioning and preparation for full-line operation.

For a lithium-ion battery recycling project, the completion of equipment dispatch marks an important milestone, but it is not the end of the project’s work. Whether the production line can operate as planned depends on the alignment between the raw material conditions, equipment configuration, on-site infrastructure and subsequent commissioning.

Lithium-ion Battery Recycling Equipment

‘One metric tonne per hour’ is commonly used to denote a production line’s processing capacity under agreed conditions.
However, lithium-ion battery feedstock of the same weight may present varying material forms and processing requirements. For example, battery production waste, end-of-life battery cells, battery modules and materials that have undergone preliminary disassembly may differ in terms of dimensions, moisture content, residual charge and composition.

Lithium-ion Battery Recycling Equipment

A lithium-ion battery recycling production line typically comprises multiple pieces of equipment and auxiliary systems. Upon project dispatch, the entire production line must be dismantled into equipment modules suitable for transport and on-site reassembly.

Dispatch of Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Equipment

The value of lithium-ion battery recycling equipment lies not only in completing the crushing process, but also in producing materials that can be separately collected and further utilised.

Depending on the feedstock conditions and project configuration, the processing workflow typically focuses on the separation and collection of black mass, fine copper particles, fine aluminium particles and other structural materials.

ECOCYCLE Machinery will provide equipment configuration and delivery support for lithium-ion battery recycling projects based on the project’s feedstock, target production capacity, site conditions and target recoverables.
